On the coast of Balneário Piçarras, where the Carijós thrived, the chief's daughter was destined to marry a leader feared for his ferocity. However, fate conspired differently when she found a wounded shipwrecked man on the beach. With care and dedication, she healed him, and amidst the care, deep feelings arose.
When the day of the arranged marriage arrived, the love between the indigenous woman and the shipwrecked man was undeniable. A clash between tribes erupted, intensified by a raging storm that churned the seas. To protect his beloved, now pregnant, the couple threw themselves into the sea, swimming towards an island and disappearing into the ocean.
When the storm finally passed, the sun revealed two rocks on the horizon where there had been nothing before. The Itacolomi Islands remain there to this day, side by side, as if representing the indomitable power of true love. And so they remain together to this day.
